More than once, I have come across a work of art that literally seems to have a life of its own: in some indescribable way, the piece has an active presence. Vincent van Gogh’s “Irises” has this quality.

One day, while working on my own photographs, I sensed something like a door opening, a gap leading to another place: as I looked into the photo, something ‘other’ was looking out.

This set is about the animating potential of form and color. Some photographs are intended to represent the body’s energy centers, called chakras.
